Pierre, Jacques, Hubert and Christian
Pierre is a winemaker with contrast.
Aptly named, he gratifies us with a jovial angel face and a rugby player’s build.
Bon vivant and of a joyful temperament, this is felt in his work and in his wines.
Always in a beautiful mood, acceillant and voluble, Pierre transmits his joy of living and discovering in his juices. Of gentle and good-natured looks, his determination and his involvement are nevertheless implacable. Curious, constantly in search of progress here he is engaged in the learning of biodynamics.
From rugby, he keeps a go-getter and party side, he loves his wines and his work and can be proud of it!
Pierre is now in charge of the family estate, he works together with Hubert his Dad and Jacques his brother.
Against the tide, his grandfather had chosen hillsides when mechanization pushed the vineyard towards the plain.
The family therefore invested in the Praeletenberg, grouping together uncultivated land, scattered that the vine had left.
Pierre therefore inherits an exceptional location in Alsace with a majority of hillsides, on and around the Grand Cru Praeletenberg. Geological nugget, the soil of its slopes is the result of the degradation of a rare mother rock, a very very old Gneiss.
It is therefore with happiness that Pierre is now working to cultivate this very special soil, filtering but rich, austere but generous.
The wines are nuggets of fruit, often airy with subtle fragrances, sometimes reserved.
Even if their gluttony seems to be intended for direct consumption, they gain in power and reveal a liquorice minerality and a greasy texture with age.
